About us…

Hi everyone, we’re Ali and Baros! We met five years ago and have been married for just about three years after bonding over a mutual love of cooking, travel, culture, music and DIY crafting. We finally decided to share our experiences here in both blog and video formats.

Baros is Turkish and I’m Italian-American. He grew up in Istanbul and I grew up in Fort Lee, NJ. Although our lives were very different, we both experienced cultural exchanges that allowed us to be open to trying new things. We love to celebrate different cultures by exploring and learning about the world around us. We fuse aspects of Turkish, Italian, American and other cuisines. We love to travel and experience anything that comes our way (we can’t wait to travel again after Covid passes, but for now health and safety first!). Spicy challenges, foods we’ve never tried before! We’re game to try it all. We are happy to share our experiences with travel, food and some interesting creations we’ve come up with along the way.

Although we spend a lot of time playing with food, we also love to spend our time making things. We used to live in a tiny one bedroom apartment so our crafting was limited to handicrafts and things that could be made in our very limited space. Recently, we moved to a larger apartment with a deck. All of a sudden we can do the bigger projects we’ve been talking about for ages. We’re still newbies and we definitely don’t have all the tools we need, so we’ll most certainly be learning along the way. We like to try and find the easiest and most cost effective ways to get a project done (my school loans eat up a lot of our budget!). We are always on the look out for creative solutions that let us broaden our skills.
